First Utah Bank Makes Historic Charitable Contribution

At First Utah Bank, we believe thriving communities create a prosperous future for everyone in Utah. It’s a principle that guides our actions in everything we do, and especially when it comes to giving back locally. Just this month, First Utah Bank reached an important milestone. We’re proud to announce our largest charitable contribution to date, totalling over $632,500. This unprecedented level of giving represents a significant expansion of First Utah Bank’s community investment, and demonstrates the growing commitment of our shareholders to address critical local needs.

Community Action ServicesFocus on community

First Utah Bank’s charitable giving committee is currently focused on two critical areas: food insecurity and supporting women and children. These focused priorities allow us to make meaningful impacts where they’re needed most.

“We’re committed to giving back to the communities that we serve,” says Amy Foulks from First Utah Bank. “And for each of the past several years, the giving budget has been generously increased by our shareholders.”

First Utah Bank’s historic giving initiative is benefiting organizations like Neighborhood House Utah, Tabitha’s Way Food Pantry, and Community Action Services and Food Bank, helping to combat hunger and support vulnerable populations throughout Utah.

The size of this recent contribution allows us to support a large number of organizations in a bigger way than ever before.

A proactive approach to giving

Unlike many corporate giving programs, First Utah Bank’s giving committee actively seeks out worthy causes. “None of the organizations that we’ve given donations to had to go through an application process,” Foulks says. “The Giving Committee identifies the areas of greatest need in Salt Lake and Utah Counties and help where we can.”

“Supporting organizations that address food insecurity and helping women and children thrive, ensures that a higher percentage of those in our community have their basic needs met.”

Amplifying influence through smart partnerships

First Utah Bank is also widening its impact through a partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB).

“This isn’t just about checking a box. It’s baked into who we are as an organization, and creating a giving model that really works,” says Foulks. “With the support of the FHLB, we’ve been able to make our dollars stretch further. This year, the FHLB generously gave a 1.5x match.”

By focusing our efforts where needs are greatest, partnering strategically to maximize impact, and actively seeking out worthy organizations, First Utah Bank is working to create the biggest impact possible. And as the state of Utah continues to grow and evolve, we remain committed to making sure that growth benefits everyone in the community, especially those who are most vulnerable.
