Community Action Services & Food Bank plays a vital role in addressing poverty and food insecurity in our community. Their wide range of programs includes emergency assistance, affordable housing and access to nutritious food. Last year alone, they distributed over 6 million pounds of food to individuals and families facing hunger. Their efforts ensure that no one goes to bed hungry in our community.
The Children’s Center is a beacon of hope for families facing mental health challenges. They provide specialized therapy and support services for children who have experienced trauma, abuse or other emotional difficulties. With a mission to strengthen families and empower children, their impact goes beyond individual treatments as they strive to break generational cycles of adversity. Their dedication to improving children’s mental health is truly commendable.
On an ongoing basis, close to 2,700 hundred children are in the foster care system in Utah. Utah Foster Care works tirelessly to provide safe, supportive and loving homes for children in foster care. They are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive in a nurturing environment. Through their programs, training and support for foster families, they strive to make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of children who have faced adversity.
ShelterKids is a private nonprofit organization that is dedicated to helping abused, neglected, and at-risk children and teenagers in Salt Lake County. Comprised of passionate local professionals and committed volunteers, ShelterKids raises funds and collects in-kind donations to support the youth served by the Salt Lake County Division of Youth Services. They enhance programs for youth in prevention, early intervention, education and training. Their diverse range of services includes crisis residential programs, after-school programs, transitional living programs and emergency shelter care. Through these initiatives, ShelterKids provides essential support, including food, shelter, counseling and preventative services, to help children transition into more stable living situations.
